JGlider compatibility — unreleased preview
JGlider reads Java source through a parser and provides compiler facts when the imported project admits semantic analysis.
Runtime and platforms
| Area | Support | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| npm | Node.js 24 or later | JDK 21 or later, with matching java and javac major versions. |
| Homebrew preview | Prepared; unpublished | JDK 21 dependency. Node.js is unnecessary. |
| Platforms | Linux x64, Windows x64, macOS arm64 | Other architectures remain unverified. Unix Unicode paths require an installed UTF-8 locale. |
| MCP transport | stdio | The client launches the server. HTTP is unavailable. |
Source and build models
| Area | Support | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Java syntax | Java 21 parser | Newer syntax can produce incomplete parser results, even with a newer runtime JDK. |
| Declarations | Named top-level and member declarations | Includes types, methods, constructors, fields, enum constants, and record components. Excludes local and anonymous declarations. |
| Compiler facts | Exact supported declarations and diagnostics | Trusted imports need admitted compiler metadata and local platform inputs. Safe mode retains parser reads. |
| Maven and Gradle | Safe or trusted import | Safe mode provides a reduced static model. Maven TEST source is parser-only. Parser tools remain usable with an external Maven parent POM or a Gradle source producer. The affected compiler facts are unavailable. |
| Output directory modules | Parser support | Modules below build, target, out, or bin keep parser support. Compiler facts require a build descriptor at that directory boundary. |
| Java platform | JDK 21 signatures for Java 8 through 21 | Restart with --analysis-jdk PATH when the local platform is unavailable. Unsupported compiler recipes report coverage limits. |
| References and callers | Compiler-backed preview | Exact current semantic keys return reference facts and direct caller groups. Coverage flags limit absence claims. |
| Hierarchy and edits | Unavailable | Exact declaration identity does not yet provide hierarchy or edit operations. |
Read boundaries
| Area | Behavior | Recovery |
|---|---|---|
| Files | Contained UTF-8 text without NUL | Links and external roots are excluded. Dependency caches and unreported build outputs are excluded. |
| Coverage | Bounded parser and compiler results | The agent must inspect coverage and pagination before an absence claim. See the symbol reference. |
| Workspace changes | Fresh semantic publication | On stale_snapshot, call sync and repeat discovery. Existing semantic keys and cursors then expire. |
| Build inputs | Imported configuration only | JGlider checks recorded local inputs. External build-script inputs can remain outside freshness coverage. |
| Telemetry and feedback | Disabled in this preview | The feedback tool remains listed but sends no report. |
