Compatibility
Glider requires the .NET 10 SDK. Project support also depends on locally installed SDKs, workloads, and build tools.
Solution and Project Types
The installation guide preloads the workspace. Use the load tool to select another workspace later.
| Area | Current support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
.sln | Supported | Recommended for multi-project solutions when the solution loads successfully with local .NET/MSBuild tools. |
.slnx | Supported | Supported when the solution loads successfully with local .NET/MSBuild tools. |
.csproj | Supported | Useful for focused single-project analysis or when a full solution is not available. |
| SDK-style C# projects | Supported | Works for modern SDK-style projects when required SDKs and workloads are installed. |
| Legacy MSBuild C# projects | Supported with local build tools | Glider can analyze legacy projects when your local build tools can evaluate them. |
| Non-C# project systems | Not a Glider .NET target | Glider is the C#/.NET product. Use product-specific MCPs for other language ecosystems. |
Target Frameworks
| Area | Current support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Modern .NET | Supported | Includes current SDK-style .NET projects when matching SDKs and workloads are installed. |
| .NET Core | Supported | Supported when the project restores and loads with local .NET/MSBuild tools. |
| .NET Standard | Supported | Supported for C# projects that can be loaded by the installed SDK/build toolchain. |
| .NET Framework | Supported with caveats | Use Windows with Visual Studio/MSBuild when the solution depends on Windows-only .NET Framework targets. |
Operating Systems
| Area | Current support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Supported | Use this for legacy .NET Framework solutions that depend on Visual Studio or Windows-only build targets. |
| macOS | Supported | Works for SDK-style and other cross-platform C# projects when the required .NET SDKs and workloads are installed. |
| Linux | Supported | Works for SDK-style and other cross-platform C# projects when the required .NET SDKs and workloads are installed. |
MCP Clients and Transports
Choose a client in the installation guide.
| Area | Current support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Local stdio | Default | The client starts one local server process. |
| Streamable HTTP | Supported | See HTTP setup for a separately managed server. |
Compatibility Notes
- Glider reports load diagnostics from your local .NET/MSBuild tools. If a project cannot be evaluated locally, install the missing SDK, workload, targeting pack, or build tool and reload.
- A project file that declares an encoding the build host cannot read is a different case. The tools are present and more of them do not help. Glider names the encoding in the load error. Save that file as UTF-8 and reload.
- Support means Glider can load and analyze the solution or project through local tooling. It is not a guarantee that every custom target, generator, or design-time build dependency is available on every operating system.
